Sound Board is the theatre inside MotorCity Casino Hotel in downtown Detroit — a deliberately intimate big room whose own pitch is "Big Sound. Up Close.": up to 2,400 fans, close enough that the back of the house still feels like a club. It books national touring headliners across comedy, R&B, soul and rock, and it is the Detroit room that takes multi-night comedy stands — Chris Tucker, Eddie Griffin and Gary Owen all play two-night or weekend runs here, and Jo Koy, Margaret Cho and JB Smoove have all worked the stage. Every show is 21+ with valid photo ID, self-parking in the attached structure is free, and tickets are sold through Ticketmaster or the second-floor box office across from Sweet Ride.
