The World Famous Mad House Comedy Club is downtown San Diego's independent stand-up room, on the corner of 4th Avenue and F Street in the Historic Gaslamp Quarter. The club runs live comedy every night of the year: ticketed showcases Wednesday through Sunday - the Mad House Favorites Show at 8:00 PM midweek and the Famous Mad House Weekend Showcase Special in double 8:00 PM and 10:00 PM sets on Friday and Saturday - each an eight-comedian bill of touring and local stand-ups. Shows run about 90 minutes with a full bar, first-come first-served seating and no dress code. After the headliner shows wrap, the Mad House hosts a free open mic, 365 nights a year, with no cover and no minimums for performers. The room is 18+ with a valid state-issued photo ID required at the door, and a two-drink minimum on ticketed shows (drinks do not have to be alcoholic). There is no club lot; the Horton Plaza parking structure sits directly across the street.
