Grand Comedy Club & Pizzeria is North County San Diego's standup room, tucked into the northeast side of the North County Mall in Escondido in the space that used to be a California Pizza Kitchen. It is a comedy club and a full pizzeria-sports bar in one — 20 TVs, NFL Sunday Ticket, beer, wine and cocktails, pizza, wings, breadsticks and salads — and it is open seven days a week, with trivia on Tuesdays, karaoke on Wednesdays and an open mic on Sunday nights. Headliner weekends run Friday and Saturday, usually as a double bill at 6:30 and 8:45pm, and the club books real touring names: Pablo Francisco, The Sklar Brothers, Lara Beitz, Pete Lee, Jimmy Pardo, Jeremiah Watkins, Paul Ogata and Ian Edwards have all played the room. Seating is all tables, first come first served, with a two-item food-or-drink minimum per person; shows are 18 and up (younger admitted with a parent) and generally run PG-13 to R.
