Comedy Heights

Comedy Heights is a San Diego stand-up company produced by working comedians Al Gavi and Maria Herman, who have run a weekly show without a break since November 2011 — first at Twiggs in University Heights, and since October 2023 in the small theater next door to Lestat's coffee house on Adams Avenue in Normal Heights. Shows go up every Friday and Saturday at 8pm and pair a headliner with a rotating bill of four or five comics, for a $5 cover that converts to same-day café credit. Being a short drive from Los Angeles, the room pulls a steady stream of credited comedians — past bills have carried names from The Tonight Show, Last Comic Standing, America's Got Talent, HBO and Comedy Central — alongside up-and-comers from all over Southern California. The billing leans clean, clever and fast-moving, and the room is small enough that nobody, on stage or off, gets to hide. Comedy Heights also books private, corporate and one-off shows around the county.
