Veterans Memorial Coliseum is the 12,000-seat arena on Portland's Rose Quarter campus, opened on November 1, 1960 as a memorial to veterans of all wars and designed by Skidmore, Owings & Merrill. It was the original home of the NBA's Trail Blazers — who won the 1977 championship here — and is now the primary home of the WHL's Portland Winterhawks, hosting more than 150 events a year: concerts, family shows, ice shows, rodeos, trade shows and touring comedy. The Beatles, Elvis Presley, Aretha Franklin and Ray Charles all played the Coliseum, and recent bills have ranged from Adam Sandler and Jeff Dunham to Bryson Tiller and A Perfect Circle. It is a separate building from the neighboring Moda Center, with its own box office entrance off the Rose Quarter plaza. Wheelchair-accessible seating, complimentary wheelchair escorts and assisted listening devices are available, and the Coliseum's Guest Information Booth sits at Entry CC.
