The Aladdin Theater is a roughly 600-seat historic theater at 3017 SE Milwaukie Ave in Portland's Brooklyn neighborhood, at the east end of the Ross Island Bridge. It opened in 1928 as the Geller's Theatre, took the Aladdin name in the 1930s as a vaudeville house that hosted the likes of Jack Benny, spent four decades as a family movie emporium, and was revived as a live venue in 1993; today it is owned and programmed by True West Presents. The intimate seated room has become one of Portland's go-to stops for touring comedy — Bill Maher, Louis C.K., Dave Attell, Jeff Dunham, Craig Ferguson, Paula Poundstone, Adam Carolla, Jim Gaffigan, Chelsea Handler and Aziz Ansari have all played the stage — alongside a deep music calendar that has ranged from Lindsey Buckingham, Emmylou Harris and Brandi Carlile to early-career Bon Iver and Mumford & Sons. Most shows are all ages (check the event page for show-specific restrictions), concessions serve Double Mountain pizza with local craft beer and wine, and the theater is wheelchair accessible — call ahead to arrange seating.
