Backroom Comedy Club is Toronto's speakeasy comedy club — an intimate basement room on Bloor Street West, founded in February 2022 by comedians Brandon Sobel and Ariel Kagan. Stand-up runs Wednesday through Sunday with 8pm and 10pm shows most nights, in a fast New York-style showcase format where several comics take shorter sets rather than one long headliner hour. Alongside the weekly showcases, the club's Limited Edition and One Night ONLY headliner series brings in touring acts from across Canada and the US, and Saturday cultural showcases run in Turkish, Mandarin, Spanish, French and Desi comedy. The room doubles as a comedy gym for developing local talent, with a beginner stand-up program called Comedy Dojo.
