Named for its perch along the Milwaukee River, The Riverside Theater is the most opulent of downtown Milwaukee's houses — a 1928 movie palace on Wisconsin Avenue, restored and programmed by the Pabst Theater Group, and at roughly 2,500 seats the largest comedy room in the city. Its stage has welcomed high-caliber artists ranging from Kevin Hart and Neil Young to Norah Jones and Aretha Franklin, and the current calendar pairs touring standup headliners — Anthony Jeselnik, Josh Johnson, Joey Diaz, Mojo Brookzz, Matt Mathews, Charlie Berens, Iliza Shlesinger — with symphony-and-film nights, tribute bands and national music tours.
