The Laughing Tap is Milwaukee's home for stand up comedy — a locally founded, comic-run club presenting national, regional and local standup every weekend, plus a free weekly open mic. Founded in 2020 in Walker's Point by Matt Kemple, Kaitlin McCarthy and Greg Bach under Milwaukee Comedy LLC (the producers behind the Milwaukee Comedy Festival), the club outgrew its original room and moved downtown in early 2026 to the historic George Watts & Sons building on N Jefferson St. It is an intimate 80-seat room with a full bar of Wisconsin craft beer, spirits and non-alcoholic options — and, unusually for a comedy club, no drink or item minimum of any kind. Touring headliners on the calendar include Dulcé Sloan, Langston Kerman, Punkie Johnson, Sean Patton, Tom Thakkar, Mohanad Elshieky and Nick Vatterott.
