A family-owned South Side institution, Riddles opened on June 10, 1990 as KJ Riddles in Orland Park before moving to its long-time home on W 111th Street in Alsip. The 210-seat showroom runs comedy Wednesday through Sunday — 7:30 shows midweek, doubles at 7:30 and 10 on Friday and Saturday — plus a Monday open mic that has been the Chicagoland proving ground for new comics for three decades. Drew Carey, George Lopez, Martin Lawrence, Louie Anderson, Richard Jeni, Larry Miller, Gabe Kaplan, Dom Irrera, Jeff Dunham, Jimmy "JJ" Walker, Tom Dreesen and Paul Rodriguez have all worked the room. Cash-only bar with an ATM on site, first-come seating, two-beverage minimum, 21+ with valid ID, free parking.
