The Martin Marietta Center for the Performing Arts has anchored downtown Raleigh since 1932, when Memorial Auditorium was built on the site of North Carolina's first Governor's Palace. The city-owned complex at 2 East South Street now holds four rooms under one roof — the 2,354-seat Raleigh Memorial Auditorium, the 1,587-seat Meymandi Concert Hall, the 600-seat A.J. Fletcher Opera Theater and the intimate Lounge — and is home to the North Carolina Symphony, Carolina Ballet, NC Opera and PineCone. Alongside its resident companies it is Raleigh's main stop for touring standup: Nateland Live, Becky Robinson, Lavell Crawford, DeRay Davis, Earthquake, Don DC Curry, Adele Givens, Nurse Blake and Michael Blaustein all play the building's halls.
