Opened in 1914 as a vaudeville and movie palace and restored in 2004 as the centerpiece of the France-Merrick Performing Arts Center, the Hippodrome is Baltimore's 2,248-seat touring Broadway house, on North Eutaw Street in the heart of the Bromo Tower Arts & Entertainment District. Operated by Broadway Across America and the John Gore Organization, it takes the national Broadway tours - Hamilton, Six, Hell's Kitchen, The Sound of Music, The Outsiders - alongside ballet, Cirque du Soleil and the theatre-scale standup that comes through town: Lewis Black, Brett Goldstein and Jeff Arcuri all play the room this season.
