Give a Hoot Comedy Club calls itself Montgomery County's only full-time comedy club, a room on Shady Grove Road in Gaithersburg, Maryland that runs on a simple premise: comedy for the community. Every week's headliner run is paired with a different local nonprofit — the Manna Food Center, the National Federation for the Blind, the Animal Welfare League of Montgomery County, Toys for Tots MoCo — so the Friday and Saturday shows double as a rotating benefit. The bills lean on the DC-area circuit and the touring club scene: Marcus Brown, Johnny Watson, Jared Stern, Larry XL, Tommy Lama, and Last Comic Standing winner Dat Phan have all headlined here. Doors open an hour before showtime with the full La Mexicana food and drink menu available in the club, parking is free, and tickets run $20 in advance or $25 at the door. Midweek the stage goes to a free Wednesday open mic and the club's own "So You Think You Are Funny" new-talent contest.
