Comedy Oakland is the Bay Area's longest-running independent stand-up comedy show, delivering live comedy in Oakland since 2009 and voted "Best Comedy Night" in the East Bay Express Readers' Poll every year from 2016 to 2025. Comedian-owned and comedian-run, it stages a few hundred shows a year across two Oakland rooms — the upstairs stage at the Elbo Room in the Jack London district (21+) and the waterfront room at Quinn's Lighthouse on Embarcadero Cove — with a fresh rotating lineup of five or six comics every night, mixing touring pros and festival regulars with the Bay Area's sharpest local voices. Unlike a traditional club there are no drink minimums and no hidden fees; food and drinks are served, free street parking is usually available nearby, and the house rules are simple — no heckling, no filming, phones away during the show. Recent lineups have featured Samson Koletkar, Ira Summer, Nina G, Doug Ferrari, Joan Crowe, Jackie Keliiaa and Wonder Dave.
