Set inside the historic 1904 Carnegie library building in downtown Niles, the Underground Laugh Lounge is Michiana's fastest-growing comedy club — a 95-seat room booking nationally touring headliners just north of South Bend and Notre Dame. Shows run Friday and Saturday nights at 8pm with doors at 7, plus a free Thursday open mic. All seating is general admission and everyone pays the same price, because the raised seating and bar tops keep the whole room close to the stage. Recent headliners include Jeff Allen, Etta May, Tom Arnold, Bobcat Goldthwait, Sam Comroe, Kevin Farley, Bob Zany, Tanyalee Davis and Gabriel Rutledge. Every show carries a content rating so guests know what to expect, there is a two-item minimum at the club, and the entire facility is non-smoking. Upstairs, the venue's 1920s-themed speakeasy lounge, The Study, runs its own separate programming.
