Prairie Home Alliance Theater is the roughly 2,200-seat performing arts room inside the Peoria Civic Center, in the heart of downtown Peoria. With a long history of hosting Broadway tours, acclaimed musical acts and top-tier touring comedians, the theater has been a cultural anchor for Central Illinois since the complex opened in 1982; its recent naming partnership with Prairie Home Alliance marks a renewed commitment to the arts experience. Elegant architecture, intimate sightlines and state-of-the-art acoustics and lighting make for a strong seat anywhere in the room, and recent renovations added a welcoming lobby and modern guest amenities. The theater is home to Ameren Illinois Broadway in Peoria and the Peoria Symphony Orchestra, and the standup it books runs to names like Nikki Glaser, Nurse John and Matt Mathews.
