The Mahaffey Theater is St. Petersburg's 2,031-seat waterfront performing arts theater, lushly appointed and designed to look and feel like a classic European opera house. It is the resident home of The Florida Orchestra and hosts touring standup, concerts, dance, ballet and spoken-word events year round — recent and upcoming bills include Nurse John, Josh Johnson, John Oliver and Kathleen Madigan alongside the orchestra's pay-what-you-can Inside the Music series and free community concerts. The theater sits on the downtown waterfront at 400 First Street South, within walking distance of the city's museums, shops and restaurants, and has full-liquor bars, accessible parking and seating, and assisted listening devices. Every person over the age of one needs a ticket.
