Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Sioux City opened downtown in August 2014 and programs two of Siouxland's busiest stages. Anthem, the 850-capacity indoor showroom, books national and local acts most weeks of the year - rock, pop, country and blues alongside a steady run of touring standup, with Carlos Mencia, Billy Gardell, Steve-O and James "Murr" Murray all on the current calendar. Battery Park, the open-air stage out front, takes over for the summer season with festival-style shows; past headliners there include Journey, 3 Doors Down, Cheap Trick, Boston and Chris Stapleton, and it was named Casino Arena/Amphitheater of the Year at the 2018 G2E Casino Entertainment Awards. Anthem events are strictly 21+ while Battery Park is open to all ages. The rest of the complex holds the AAA Four Diamond Hard Rock Hotel, 675-plus slot machines, live table games, three bars and two restaurants.
