Broward Center for the Performing Arts

The Broward Center for the Performing Arts is Fort Lauderdale's flagship performing arts complex, set on the New River at the western edge of downtown. It presents more than 1,000 performances a year to roughly 650,000 patrons and ranks among the ten most-visited theaters in the world. Three rooms share the 201 SW 5th Avenue campus: the 2,658-seat Au-Rene Theater, home to the Broadway series and the largest touring attractions; the 584-seat Amaturo Theater; and the intimate, cabaret-style Abdo New River Room. The calendar runs from Broadway tours, opera, ballet and classical and jazz programming to national standup headliners — bills on the current schedule include John Crist, Paula Poundstone, Ali Siddiq, John Oliver, Josh Johnson, Max Amini and Kristin Key.
