Wise Crackers has been bringing standup to Northeast Pennsylvania for more than 20 years, and now runs its showroom inside Mohegan Pennsylvania in Wilkes-Barre — upstairs from the casino's lower level, entered through the hotel lobby. Shows run Fridays and Saturdays, doors at 8pm and showtime at 9pm, built around a full three-comic bill: a touring headliner, a feature and an MC. Recent headliners include Buddy Fitzpatrick, John Iavarone, Joe Matarese, Chip Chantry and Mike Gaffney. The club also runs NEPA's Funniest, an annual amateur contest that plays out over consecutive weekends and ends in a finals night, and it has raised more than $1.5 million for local groups through comedy fundraisers. It's a 21+ room, seating is limited to six per table, and the Bean and Vine cafe and wine bar sits just down the hall for a drink before or after the show.
