The Comic Strip has been El Paso's home for stand-up since 1986 and is now the longest-running comedy club in Texas, voted Best Comedy Club in the state by Comedy Ink Magazine and a perennial El Paso "Best of" winner. Centrally located on Airway Blvd. in the Airway Junction Shopping Center, the showroom is laid out cabaret-style — chairs around tables facing the stage, with full bar and table service — so even the biggest names play up close. Dave Chappelle, Tim Allen, Ellen DeGeneres, Steve Harvey, Jim Carrey, George Lopez, Ray Romano, Gabriel Iglesias, Lewis Black, Bill Hicks, Cedric the Entertainer, Jeff Dunham, Mike Epps, Arsenio Hall, Paul Rodriguez, Rodney Carrington and Tommy Chong have all worked this stage. Shows run Thursday through Sunday with a new headliner every week; it is a showcase room that books proven professional acts rather than running a regular open mic.
