Stifel Theatre is a historic 3,100-seat theatre in the heart of downtown St. Louis, at 1400 Market Street. Completed in 1934 as the opera house of the city's Municipal Auditorium complex — later the Kiel Opera House and then the Peabody Opera House — it reopened as Stifel Theatre after a $78.7 million restoration that returned the marble front lobby and ornate main hall to their original splendor while adding state-of-the-art production upgrades. Its stage has welcomed Frank Sinatra, Ray Charles, Bob Dylan and the Rolling Stones, and it now plays host to concerts, theatricals, family shows, holiday productions and touring standup — upcoming comedy bills include Nurse John, Leanne Morgan, Jeff Arcuri, Matt Mathews and An Evening With David Sedaris. The theatre sits on Market Street next to Enterprise Center, all guests need a ticket regardless of age, and tickets are sold through Ticketmaster.
