A $94 million, 3,000-seat performing arts center that anchors downtown Greensboro's arts district, the Steven Tanger Center for the Performing Arts opened in 2021 and has hosted over 1.4 million guests since. Its single auditorium — orchestra, grand tier and loge — is one of the largest theatres between Atlanta and Washington, D.C., with an oversized stage, an orchestra lift to a working basement, and a limestone-and-glass lobby in Phillips Hall. Presented with partners Nederlander and Professional Facilities Management, the room carries the First Bank Broadway Series (one of the nation's top-selling one-week Broadway series), the Greensboro Symphony Orchestra, the Eastern Festival of Music, concerts, family entertainment and touring standup — comedy bills here include Nikki Glaser, Jeff Dunham, Mojo Brookzz, Franco Escamilla and David Sedaris. It sits beside LeBauer Park, the Greensboro Historical Museum and the Cultural Arts Center, and is managed by the staff of the Greensboro Complex.
