Opened in November 2016, the McAllen Performing Arts Center is the City of McAllen's 1,800-seat theatre and the anchor of the Convention Center District in South Texas. Three levels of seating, a four-story tower and a membership lounge make it, in the city's own words, the most advanced performing arts house south of San Antonio, and it has staged more than 450 productions since opening. The calendar runs national touring standup (Bert Kreischer, Jim Gaffigan, Gary Owen) alongside a real Spanish-language comedy slate (Adrian Uribe, Gaby Mendoza, Rene Vaca), Broadway in McAllen, the Valley Symphony Orchestra, ballet and Latin music for the whole Rio Grande Valley.
