Mayo Performing Arts Center is the 1,319-seat nonprofit theatre at 100 South Street in Morristown, and the heart of arts and entertainment in northern New Jersey. The room opened in 1937 as a movie house, was restored and reborn as a performing arts center in 1994, and was named Outstanding Historic Theatre by the League of Historic American Theatres in 2016; Pollstar ranks it among the top 50 mid-sized performing arts centers in the country. MPAC presents more than 200 events a year across touring music, Broadway tours, dance, family shows, film-in-concert, speakers and a steady run of named standup headliners — recent and upcoming bills include Nurse Blake, Kathleen Madigan, Paula Poundstone, Jon Lovitz, Vic DiBitetto and #IMOMSOHARD — alongside resident companies New Jersey Symphony and New Jersey Ballet. It is owned and operated by The South Street Theater Co., Inc., a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, two blocks from the Morristown train station.
