The Lexington Opera House is a 1,000-seat historic theatre at 401 West Short Street in downtown Lexington, Kentucky. Opened in 1886 and restored as part of the Lexington Center complex now known as Central Bank Center, the house keeps its grand staircase and crystal chandeliers, and is run alongside Rupp Arena by the Lexington Center Corporation. It is the city's home for touring Broadway — the Broadway Live series brings SIX, Hadestown, Shucked, The Wiz and Legally Blonde through the room — plus ballet, opera, concerts and a steady run of touring stand-up: Becky Robinson, Trae Crowder, Jimmy Failla, Desi Banks, Peter Antoniou, David Sedaris, Bored Teachers and the GenX Takeover Comedy Tour have all played the Opera House stage. Smaller spaces in the building — Pardy's Pub, the Bourbon Lounge and the Glenview Trust Galleria — host receptions and gallery viewing rather than ticketed shows. The theatre is cashless, and wheelchair seating is available on Level One.
