Johnny Mercer Theatre is Savannah's big touring house — a 2,524-seat proscenium theatre inside the Savannah Civic Center on West Oglethorpe Avenue, a few blocks from the historic district's squares and walking distance from most downtown hotels. Owned by the City of Savannah and operated by Oak View Group, it is where the city's Broadway season, touring concerts, ballet, speaker series and standup all land, and it boasts one of the largest prosceniums in the Southeast. Vince Gill, Jerry Seinfeld, Chicago and Charlie Daniels have all played the stage; the current calendar runs from Jeff Dunham, Tom Segura, Arnez J. and Brad Williams to the Nederlander Broadway series, Dr. Neil deGrasse Tyson and South Carolina Ballet. Tickets are sold exclusively through Ticketmaster as mobile-only SafeTix — screenshots and printed barcodes are not accepted at the door — and the box office on site can be reached at 912.651.6550. The 6,000–9,600-seat Martin Luther King, Jr. Arena shares the same building, address and box office.
