A 2,800-seat theatre-in-the-round on Long Island, Flagstar at Westbury Music Fair has been a Nassau County entertainment fixture since 1956, when it opened as the Westbury Music Fair under a multicolored striped tent with 1,700 borrowed chairs. The tent gave way to a fully enclosed theatre-in-the-round in 1966 — Jack Benny was the first act to play the new room — and the rotating center stage has since held Judy Garland, Stevie Wonder, The Who, Bruce Springsteen, Ray Charles, and regulars Tony Bennett, Tom Jones and Don Rickles. Today it is the Live Nation room that takes the Long Island tour stop, 35 miles from midtown Manhattan, and its comedy calendar runs alongside the music: Matt Mathews, Aries Spears, Jeff Dunham and Jeff Arcuri are all on the books. Every seat is close to the stage, parking is included with the ticket, and shows are ticketed through Ticketmaster.
