An 857-seat historic theatre on N St Mary's St in downtown San Antonio, the Charline McCombs Empire Theatre opened in 1914 as a European-palazzo-style vaudeville house, spent decades as a movie theatre, and was restored and reopened in 1998 by the Las Casas Foundation (now the Majestic Empire Foundation). It sits on the National Register of Historic Places and is the intimate sister room to the Majestic Theatre around the corner, run by the same operator (ATG Entertainment) and ticketed through ATG Tickets. The Empire is where touring standup plays San Antonio at theatre scale: Jessica Kirson, Charlie Berens, Derrick Stroup, Henry Cho, Adrián Marcelo, Michael Blaustein, Randy Feltface and Terry Fator all sit on the current calendar, alongside David Sedaris, concerts, tribute shows, plays, family musicals and holiday productions.
