Max Meisel brings his L.A. Sober Tour to National Lampoon: The Yellow Door for one night of hilarious, high-energy stand-up in San Diego. A New York-born, LA-based comedian, Max recently spent more than a year on the road opening for Tom Arnold on a 60-city tour across the United States and Canada . Now he's out on his first national headlining tour, digging into the absurd differences between New York and Los Angeles—and what happens when a lifelong New Yorker realizes he might actually like living near the beach. Max is also the creator and host of BackDoor Comedy , his unique live comedy party combining stand-up, music, food and a social mixer. The show has been featured by E! News , made its festival debut at the New York Comedy Festival , and was featured at the 2026 Netflix Is a Joke Festival in Los Angeles. Before comedy took over, Max attended Syracuse University and walked onto the football team as a punt returner —despite, as he likes to point out, the limited demand for 5'4" Jewish football players. Expect stories about New York, Los Angeles, family, relationships, getting older and trying to figure out exactly how a loud New Yorker ended up happily living in Santa Monica.
