A 4,800-capacity Live Nation theatre in Wallingford, Connecticut, the Oakdale has anchored the state's live-entertainment scene since 1954, when it opened as a theatre-in-the-round under a canvas tent in the middle of an alfalfa field. A wooden dome replaced the tent in 1972, and in 1996 the complex was rebuilt into the room it is today: a traditional fixed-seat theatre on the main stage, alongside the original domed space - now billed as The Dome - which hosts general-admission standing shows. Across seven decades the stage has carried The Who, Led Zeppelin, Sting, Rod Stewart, Bruce Springsteen and Coldplay, Broadway tours including Wicked and Jersey Boys, and standup headliners such as Jerry Seinfeld, Chris Rock, Bill Maher and Jon Stewart. Shows are all ages unless otherwise stated, there are multiple bars throughout the building, and the venue is fully ADA accessible.
