About

A Comedy Special by Max Carlson written for the stage and filmed by Max, alone, on a Cross-Country Train heading from New York City to Los Angeles over the course of Four Days. Join us for the New York City premiere of Project Choo Choo by Max Carlson. Director, Writer, and Star of the special, Max Carlson, will introduce the film and will join us for a Q&A panel with the producing team following the screening. After the panel, join us for drinks at the bar and mingle with the creative team! Project Choo Choo was created by Max Carlson as a response to an industry with more closed doors than open ones. It originally began as a one-man show, written to be performed on stage with lighting and sound cues. However, through the many years it took to develop this piece, many different barriers presented themselves, mainly cost, that prevented the show from happening live. In response to this and to a one-sided work-life balance that led to burnout, Max decided to take the show on the road (tracks). Knowing that some of the material would translate to film and that some of it wouldn't, Max had four days to film everything he could while on the cross-country train heading from New York City to Los Angeles. What resulted was a piece centered in on the artistic process that unfurled many pertinent questions about why we make art in the first place. We hope you enjoy the product of that process as much as we do.
