About

Professors, experts, and storytellers giving thought-provoking lectures in NYC bars. 🧠 Lecture: "The Science of Attention: Why Focus Is Fragile" 🎙️ Speaker: Dr. Pascal Wallisch, PhD Join us for a fascinating evening with Dr. Pascal Wallisch as we dive into one of the most precious—and fragile—resources we have: our attention. What surfaces in our consciousness is shaped not only by the world around us, but by what we choose (and fail) to focus on. In this lecture, Dr. Wallisch will unpack the science of human attention, explain why it evolved the way it did, and show how modern environments—from constant notifications to compulsive multitasking—overwhelm systems that were never designed for this level of stimulation. He will also discuss the neuroscience of distraction, the realities of ADHD, and practical implications for staying focused in a world built to break your concentration. This talk might save lives—maybe even yours. Dr. Pascal Wallisch is Clinical Professor of Data Science, Psychology, and Neuroscience at NYU Arts & Science and the most decorated educator at NYU, with a distinguished teaching award, two Golden Dozen awards, a TeachTech award, and five teaching innovation awards.
